Qwiki

If you are looking for a website to help your students learn about a topic before your lesson in the class or if you have a projector in your room and you would like to use a video as a lesson starter, Qwiki is an excellent site for just that.  Basically, Qwiki is wikipedia but the multimedia version.

Now What?

This site is excellent for general information although like all websites it cannot be the only source of information.  I like the fact that there are related videos underneath the featured content so the student can then do some additional watching on their topic.  There is also a featured news video  which is updated regularly...and of course there is an app for that!
