Every year Google posts a video mixture of images and short video clips on their website depicting the year in review. This is an excellent way to look back on the events of the past year and have a discussion about these events and their importance in time. As a social studies teacher you can show this video and ask the students if there was anything missing or prior to the video have them brainstorm what they think they will see in the video. You can also have the students write down as many events as they recognize as they are watching. Check out the video below:
Now What?
This video is an excellent example of digital storytelling. After watching the movie, you can have your students use Animoto create their own montage covering the past year or have them focus on a more particular topic in 2011.
