QR Voice

QR Voice is a great little site which allows you to create a QR code using audio and then share that code in several ways.  To get started simply head over to QR Voice and type or record your audio up to 100 characters.  Next, click on the image of a QR code and you are good to go.  You can also resize the image before sharing by dragging the slider left or right.  Sharing is simple with the Twitter and Facebook buttons on the page but you could also share the shortened URL by e-mail or writing it on the board.  The screenshot below shows you the simple interface of the page.

Now What?

Using QR codes in your classroom is a great way to break up the content and get students involved in the learning.  Using QR codes you can create a Treasure Hunt,  create assessment questions, or anything in between.

QR Code Generator

QR Codes are fastly becoming very popular in education for a number of reasons but mostly because students and smartphones are becoming synonymous with one another.  If you don't know what a QR Code is you should check out the Common Craft video which does a great job of explaining them in "Plain English".  If you are ready to start creating your own codes for your students be sure to check out this QR Code website called QRStuff.com.  On this site you can generate a QR Code out of just about anything (see image below).  They will also put your code on anything you can imagine (t-shirt, hat, even a chocolate bar).  If you are looking to get started using these codes in your classroom check out this collaborative slideshow of ideas for how you can incorporate QR Codes into your classroom.

Now What?

If you are looking for a quick way to get some QR Codes up in your room you can use QRStuff.com to create a code which links to your class webpage or Twitter feed.  Another idea would be to create a code for your students which will get them to your homework calendar quickly.

Class Tools

A while back I wrote about a site (view original post) where you could create a fake Facebook page called Fakebook.  It's a great site and very easy to use without an account or registration.  I happened on to the site again to find that there are some other really great resources on there besides the Fakebook tool.  Below are three other really great resources for you to check out and use in your classroom:

Random Name Picker: Use this site to select students to answer a question in class or use it as a vocabulary game using words from your word wall.  Check out the video clip below to see how it works:

QR Code Quiz Generator:  Really easy way to create a scavenger hunt or quiz using QR (Quick Response) Codes (those barcode looking things you see everywhere).  To create a quiz simply type in your questions and the QR codes are generated for you so you can print and hand out or post around school.  If you would like to create a QR code of a website or other content, check out jlj l.  Click here to see a sample quiz using the QR code quiz generator.

Post It!: Upload an image and then you can label it with sticky notes.  This would be a great way to handle diagrams and labeling but I also found it be useful as a shared corkboard ala Wallwisher or corkboard.me.  Check out the corkboard below and add your own sticky note to the coversation.
